Each year, MIPIM 鈥� the world's leading real estate market event 鈥� provides us with an opportunity to showcase and promote the unique skills and capabilities of Chartered Architects (our members) not only as designers of buildings, but as forward-thinking, solution-driven leaders.听听
It also provides us with a platform to advocate and garner support for a better built environment; for high-quality, safe and sustainable places and spaces that deliver for communities, both now and in the future.听
Our conversations will focus on actions we can take to build a low carbon future: from retrofitting our housing stock, to advocating for whole life carbon targets, to improving core procurement processes.听
As the profession continues to seek solutions to various societal issues 鈥� from housing shortages to school safety failures 鈥� delivering a low carbon-built environment, and cities in particular, remains at the top of our agenda. Urban spaces account for more than 70% of all carbon emissions, and they are growing at a rapid rate, with 68% of people expected to live in cities by 2050.听听
Through various activities and events on topics ranging from 鈥楥ities and Net Zero鈥� to 鈥楢 Greener Manchester鈥�, this year鈥檚 delegation of 28 Chartered Practices led by 澳门王中王 President, Muyiwa Oki, will promote our vision for a low carbon-built environment and sustainable urban development.听听

鈥淎s cities become more populated and emissions grow, this is our time, as architects, to take the lead in urban development and regeneration. At the forefront of my agenda is the advocacy for reimagining the architect's role beyond building design. 鈥楢rchitecture without boundaries鈥� 鈥� this showcasing how we can positively impact people鈥檚 lives. It means focussing on positive urban placemaking, and its role in fostering sustainable communities and driving environmental stewardship. This is the message I鈥檒l be bringing to MIPIM 2024. 听

We are hosting an array of activities at our 澳门王中王 Space (located in the London Pavillion)听including slots for attendees to meet our President, as well as some exciting speaking roles.听
On Wednesday 13 March at 14:00 澳门王中王 President Muyiwa Oki will be speaking on the Manchester Stand on the topic of a Greener Manchester. At 17:00, Chair of the 澳门王中王 Board of Trustees Jack Pringle will be speaking at a 澳门王中王 Reception on the London Stand.听听
On Thursday 14 March 澳门王中王 CEO Valerie Vaughan-Dick will be speaking on the London Stand on Inclusive Placemaking. Later in the day she will then speak at the Manchester Stand on the topic of Cities and the Net Zero Challenge.听
At 14:10 澳门王中王 President Muyiwa Oki will be speaking at the MIPIM Challengers Programme, an initiative that gives young people at MIPIM the change to make their voice heard.听听
Later in the day 澳门王中王 CEO Valerie Vaughan-Dick will be speaking on the London Stand on Inclusive Placemaking before a talk on the Manchester Stand on the topic of Cities and the Net Zero Challenge.听
