Tell us about your practice?
Reid Brewin Architects (RBA) was founded in 2006 by Alex Reid and Adrian Brewin in Paris. Since its inception, the firm has grown steadily into a team of 80, with studios in London, Milan, and the recent addition of Madrid. RBA stands for collaborative excellence, emphasizing the belief that the most successful architecture emerges from collaboration.
The practice prides itself on carefully listening to clients, conducting thorough research, and exploring diverse design solutions. The practice has experience delivering projects across Europe, either directly as RBA or as a member of the International Design (IDeA) Alliance Network - a registered Swiss based alliance of like-minded practices looking to support clients across Europe.
What projects are you currently working on?
We have several large data centre projects around Paris, London, and Milan at various stages of development; as well as smaller niche projects like hotels, shops, restaurants, and offices. The practice has worked with international designers, engineers, and consultants, fostering strong working relationships with leading consultancy firms in London, Paris and beyond. This collaborative approach extends to contractors, ensuring a quality and timely delivery.
Why do clients come to you?
RBA's differentiator lies in having a multicultural team of architects committed to each project. This reputation brings repeat business where clients return to RBA for our holistic client-led approach, where careful listening and the ability to ask illuminating questions sets the foundations for successful projects.
RBA started by helping international clients in Europe and supporting foreign clients with projects in English-speaking countries, providing that local knowledge in a language each client could understand. RBA鈥檚 architecture prioritises maximum natural light and ventilation, working closely with clients to analyse the implications of the brief, budget, and program.
With over a decade of experience working with BIM we have helped clients, consultants and contractors understand the advantages virtual modelling can bring.
What have been the highlights for you in the past year?
The opening of the Madrid studio reflects the firm's expansion and commitment to international collaboration. We look forward to the continued growth and success that we are confident this new branch will bring. Additionally, the practice has continued its focus on sustainable architecture, having worked on multiple LEED AP and BREEAM accredited buildings as well as several competitions for new research laboratories.
Client satisfaction remains a cornerstone, and RBA's quality management system ensures that our work is effective and aligned with customer expectations.
Is there anything exciting on the horizon?
RBA's modern vision, rooted in local knowledge with our pan-European presence, positions the firm to tackle future challenges. We place a strong emphasis on the involvement, training, and development of employees. Currently we have new projects planned for a coworking company looking to expand its portfolio across Europe, where we have been able to use previous experience of working with our partners to provide that extra efficiency.
We also have existing data centre clients looking to expand in other countries where RBA or our partners are located, meaning lessons learnt in one country streamline the design process in another. RBA looks forward to new innovative projects on the horizon and is excited to see what new partnerships can be made during MIPIM 2024.
