Mina Hasman, Associate Director and Sustainability lead at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP (SOM) introduced the the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with other related international agreements and identified GCC projects that demonstrated how each of these goals could be achieved.
Gary Clark, Principal, Regional Lead EMEA, Science and Technology, at HOK London Studio and Chair of the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Sustainable Futures group, provided a practical explanation of the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Sustainable Outcomes Guide’s deliverables needed if we are to achieve development which is sustainable within the targets to be adopted in order to reduce operational energy, embodied carbon, and potable water consumption.
Ghaith Tibi, Mercedes Gargallo and Samima Saqib of Arup provided three steps to take now on the route to achieving net zero carbon targets for buildings across the construction industry by defining net zero, incentivising net zero, and taking a whole carbon lifecycle approach.
A session was held at the end of the presentations to allow audience members the opportunity to pose their questions directly to the panellists.
