Building and fire safety

At the Royal Institute of British Architects, we're working with members, policy makers, and other institutions to ensure our buildings are safe for the future.

The °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ has long been campaigning for thorough reform of the UK’s building safety regulatory system.

The fire at Grenfell Tower on 14 June 2017 that claimed 72 lives, and those since, demonstrate the failings of our fire safety regulations and associated guidance.

We continue to work with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and other key stakeholders to promote the importance of fire safety in good design.

Find out more about our work to reform the system below.
