Given in recognition of a lifetime鈥檚 work, the聽Royal Gold Medal is approved personally by His Majesty the King聽and will be awarded to Yasmeen Lari during a celebratory dinner on 13 June in recognition of her significant influence in the advancement of architecture.
For this in conversation event, Yasmeen Lari will be joined by Alisha Morenike Fisher of Migrants Bureau on behalf of 聽聽to explore her career in architecture, teaching, and activism.
One of the world's highest accolades for鈥痑rchitecture, the Royal Gold Medal is approved by the monarch and awarded to a person or group of people who have had a significant influence on the advancement of architecture. This award - the first to be personally approved by His Majesty The King - acknowledges Yasmeen Lari鈥檚 work championing zero carbon self-build concepts for displaced populations.
About Yasmeen Lari
With a long and illustrious career, Yasmeen Lari has been a revolutionary force in Pakistan. She has had an immeasurable influence on the trajectory of the architecture and humanitarian work in the country. Since officially retiring in 2000, she transferred her attention to creating accessible, environmentally friendly construction techniques to help people below the poverty line and communities displaced by natural disasters and the impact of climate change.
