For young people aged 15-18 years.
In this workshop you will learn practical evaluation skills, work individually and in groups to discuss ideas and experiment with different methods for idea generation and problem solving through drawing. Each participant will come away with new insights into the ideas and possibilities for designing temporary community spaces as well as a detailed plan for their own 'meanwhile space'.
We will discuss how architects, developers, and local interest groups have used vacant properties and empty or forgotten land, to create shared and innovative schemes for temporary gardens, cultural events, play, and work. We will explore the possibilities of working with communities while embracing circular design and sustainable materials to develop sites that demonstrate new possibilities for architectural practice and urban space. You will then be introduced to plan drawing to scale before we develop and design our own 'meanwhile spaces' that transform the built environment and shapes its future possibilities.
This creative architecture workshop is led by artist educator Marianne Holm Hansen.
