Many More Parts than M! is a prototype compendium developed by and funded by Arts Council England, aimed at helping architects and built environment professionals design more accessible environments.
It explores ways to engage with built environment accessibility in ways that take us beyond conventional checklists, templates, design guidance and legal compliance.
About the publication
The publication combines provocative ideas and diverse lived experiences with innovative examples, led by the creativity of disabled artists and architects.
Rather than relying on either conventional disability categories (blind, wheelchair-user, deaf) or standard accessibility terms (wayfinding, tactile paving, platform lifts), it is organised around an alphabet of key terms, mostly drawn from disability arts, activism and scholarship.
The catalogue can be read in any order, enabling some immediate creative thinking as well as providing sources for more in-depth information.
