Supporting research projects

The °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ develops, supports and disseminates research in architecture and the built environment in the UK and internationally. Find out how the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ can support your research project.

The °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ supports academic or practice-based research and consortium projects through its Research Team and Research and Innovation Expert Advisory Group. It can provide letters of support, advice and contributing expertise, and promote and disseminate research output.

For research funding please see the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Research Trust Grants.

A decision to support a research initiative is made on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Is the proposed project ethical, rigorous and of potential value to the architectural community or wider built environment sector?
  • Does the proposed project fall within the objectives of the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ?
  • Do °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ staff, the Research and Innovation Group or other °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ members have sufficient time, appropriate expertise and other necessary resources needed to support the project?

Where a proposed project does not meet the third criterion the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ cannot lend support to the project, even if it meets the first and second criteria. The °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ will, in such as case, provide a letter stating that the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ believes the aims of the project to be valuable and would be interested to receive information regarding its progress and results.

Decisions are not made immediately and may take time for approval so please ensure that you get in touch in plenty of time before your own deadlines. Projects are generally reviewed on the third Tuesday of each month.
