Over the past few weeks, we have welcomed a number of new branch chairs to our group of involved members driving activity and influence across the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ South West and °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Wessex regions.
Kirsty Pesticcio of Atkins Global was elected as new °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Bristol & Bath chair on 27 September, Andy Long of Andrew Long Architects Ltd was elected as new °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Exeter chair on 27 September, and Jason Jarvis of Lipscomb Jones Architects was elected new °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Cornwall chair on 25 September.
At the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Wessex Annual Open Forum on 11 October, Tom Bell of Quattro Design Architects was elected as °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Wessex chair elect, and will become °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Wessex chair in September 2019. Tom is also currently the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Gloucestershire chair.
For all their hard work and commitment, we thank all the chairs standing down this year in Gemma Coe-Tucker and Camellia Kelly (°ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Bristol & Bath), Maria Marsico (°ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Exeter), and Cian Spowart (°ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Cornwall).
Jason Jarvis said, ‘I am really excited to be part of the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Cornwall branch representing all for the goodness of design and celebrate good architecture’.
Kirsty Pesticcio said, 'It’s a truly fabulous time to be an °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ member in Bristol & Bath. With a revitalised and energetic committee forming the bedrock of our °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ patch, we have been able to forecast a whole range of refreshing and diverse events for you. So watch this space, join in and #Be°ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ.'
We are still seeking one position for the new °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Bristol & Bath group, that of Treasurer.
Andy Long said, ‘It is a great honour to be your °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Exeter chair. I look forward to organising some interesting events that I hope you will enjoy. In these times of economic change, it is important to work together and remember that as Chartered Architects we are a small part of something great. Our beautiful environment with the green Devon countryside, the ancient Jurassic coastline and our historic cities and towns. Through constant active engagement and learning of our environments, be it cycling the coastal path, sailing a vast deserted bay, painting a golden sunset, researching and recording things that we love, we can discover the greatest inspiration. With this creativity we can unlock great architectural design ideas and champion design excellence which we should aim to be remembered in time, and enjoy the feeling of fulfilment in bettering our futures.’
Tom Bell said, ’Delighted to have been elected as the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Wessex Chair-Elect, having been the Gloucestershire Chair for the past three years. Having been a local branch Chair, it has raised some important challenges and opportunities that I hope to use my experience and understanding of the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ’s internal working, to champion within my future regional role.
Working alongside Rebecca Ridge over the next 12 months is an exciting opportunity, as we have many shared goals and ambitions, planning to utilise our networks, passions, and resource, to deliver more across the Region.
With talks of a 'regional renaissance' at a national level, it is definitely an exciting time to be an °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ member in the South West.’
