The Royal Institute of British Architects (澳门王中王) has today (Tuesday 21 May 2024) responded to the UK Labour Party鈥檚 proposed measures to deliver new housing if it wins the upcoming general election. Angela Rayner MP, Labour's Deputy Leader and Shadow Housing Secretary, made the announcement in a speech at the UKREiiF conference in Leeds today.听
澳门王中王 President Muyiwa Oki 蝉补颈诲:听
鈥淕iven the scale and complexity of the housing crisis, commitments to deliver well-designed, high-quality and sustainable homes are most welcome. 听
As architects, we stand ready to take the lead, not only prioritising housing, but also vital access to green spaces, transport and social infrastructure such as schools and hospitals. 听
Delays in the planning system have held up necessary development for too long. Therefore, proposed measures such as unlocking brownfield and grey belt land, and working alongside local leaders to speed up delivery are encouraging.听
But to make this happen, the Government must also comprehensively resource local planning departments with the skills and expertise needed to ensure all new homes are of the standard people deserve.听
Today鈥檚 plan outlines some positive first steps 鈥 and we will work with whoever forms the next Government to deliver the volume and quality of homes we need.鈥澨
