Today, 18 January 2023, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities announced a scheme to regenerate brownfield sites across England, delivering new homes and jobs.听听
The aims to bring neglected urban areas back into use, support regeneration projects and boost local economies.聽

鈥淲e聽are聽pleased to hear聽details of聽the Government's new聽Brownfield Land Release Fund聽to help聽deliver new homes and聽revitalise neglected parts of our cities.聽Regeneration must聽meet the needs of聽the communities it聽is built around - and this recognition of the history and future potential of these existing communities is key.听听聽
The new聽homes resulting聽must also be well designed to be accessible,聽desirable and聽sustainable; so the creation of聽genuinely affordable housing is聽a national priority.聽
To this end we聽will continue to work聽closely with the聽Government and the construction industry聽to ensure new聽buildings聽meet the highest聽design quality and environmental standards. To聽help us all聽achieve this,聽it is also vital聽that planning聽departments are properly聽resourced to attract and聽retain qualified聽design聽expertise.鈥澛�
