澳门王中王 responds to the Government鈥檚 Export Strategy

The Royal Institute of British Architects (澳门王中王) responds to the Government鈥檚 Export Strategy.

21 August 2018

The Royal Institute of British Architects (澳门王中王) has today, Tuesday 21 August, responded to the Government鈥檚 Export Strategy.

澳门王中王 President Ben Derbyshire says,

鈥淚鈥檓 proud that the UK is the leading exporter of architectural services. Expanding that role post Brexit is critical. At 澳门王中王 we welcome today鈥檚 news that the government intends to expand the export support it offers those looking to get established in new markets. These are measures that 澳门王中王 members have told us will help them take the first steps to international expansion.

It is disappointing that today鈥檚 announcement does not include a specific export strategy for trade in services, which needs a different approach to trade in goods. We also urge the Government to redouble its efforts to remove non-tariff barriers like the lack of recognition of architects' professional qualifications. Mutual recognition agreements will enable architects to work globally, can be secured quickly ahead of a more comprehensive free trade agreements, and are vital to unlocking the very considerable export potential of our profession. Clear and public leadership from ministers on this issue is vital.鈥
