In September 2021 the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ responded to the Committee's inquiry into the UK’s demand new housing and it could be met. The Committee have today published a on their findings – read our reaction below.
°ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ President, Simon Allford said:
"We welcome many of the Committee’s recommendations, especially those that call for additional local authority funding to increase social housing stock, stricter rules on permitted development and greater quotas for age-friendly homes. We also welcome suggestions on how the Government can support the diversification of the housebuilding sector to include SME developers.
But we’re disappointed at the lack of environmental considerations. There’s no mention of Post Occupancy Evaluation – a critical tool to ensure that buildings are performing effectively and efficiently once in use – or reference to retrofitting our existing housing stock.
We hope that the future work of the Committee will address these issues."
