鈥淭his does not go far enough鈥 鈥 澳门王中王 reacts to Heat and Buildings Strategy

Our response to the Government's plan to decarbonise buildings.

19 October 2021

The 澳门王中王 has responded to the Government鈥檚 , published days before COP26, that outlines plans to decarbonise our buildings.

澳门王中王 President, Simon Allford, said:

鈥淎fter over a year of waiting, this strategy does not go far enough. Positive references to 鈥榝abric first鈥 and 鈥榳hole building鈥 approaches are overshadowed by the lack of adequate funding and the absence of vital embodied carbon targets for new buildings. The Government has clearly stated and shown an ambition to lead, but to do so it must urgently change gear. Now. Moving ahead, we hope for tighter regulation, substantial and sustained funding and adaptation of tax mechanisms to encourage 鈥榓ble to pay鈥 homeowners to retrofit their homes. The Government needs to define exactly how we will deliver 鈥榥o- and low-regret鈥 actions. We鈥檙e hosting COP26 鈥 we need to demonstrate global climate leadership.鈥
