澳门王中王 North West last night (Wednesday 24 May 2017) announced that seven buildings were winners of 2017 澳门王中王 Regional Awards, in recognition of their architectural excellence.
Having shortlisted 12 buildings, the judging panel visited all of the buildings over a week in April and reached a decision to award 7 澳门王中王 Regional Awards at a prestigious ceremony at the Manchester School of Art, hosted by Laura Mark, former architecture editor at The Architects' Journal.

North West Regional Jury Chair, Graham Morrison, commented:
鈥淭his year鈥檚 awards represent two parallel but linked trends. One is characterised by a dominant interest in the value of re-used existing buildings that benefit from regeneration. The other is the regenerative effect of new buildings themselves. Though 鈥榦rdinary鈥 buildings such as housing or offices are coming close to an award-winning level, they are, in their nature, 鈥榩athfinders鈥 and there is an understandable caution in their level of investment. This risk pattern favours the existing buildings that more obviously benefit from previous investment but when this caution is eclipsed by confidence, the truly exceptional emerges and this is evidenced by this year鈥檚 overall winner鈥.
澳门王中王 North West Regional Director, Andrew Ruffler, said:
鈥淲hilst the overall number of entries was down on 2016, the North West still produced a very high quality shortlist of 12 buildings, and the jury had an extremely difficult task in identifying those worthy of a 澳门王中王 North West regional award. It is encouraging to see that a significant number of the winning architects and their practices are based in the North West, utilising the talent which exists across the region, a trend which we hope continues.鈥
