On 20 October 2021, 澳门王中王 hosted its sixth instalment of the 澳门王中王 Gulf live lunch talks, with Maryam Al-Irhayim, livestreamed from Abu Dhabi, UAE
This event showcased Maryam's insights on navigating the pandemic as a student followed by a Q&A session.
During her presentation, the topic focused on students and new graduates, and discussed helpful tips on dealing with the pandemic as a student of architecture.
Maryam stated that COVID-19 certainly changes the studio dynamics with a shift from being surrounded by your peers to being isolated on your computer. She noted that watching your lecturer speak can be quite daunting, but in hardship, there is strength and resilience. As students manoeuvre into trying to go back to what we perceived as normal there will be new challenges on balancing returning to the studio safely and online classes.
During her presentation, Maryam shared methods to increase motivation and classroom connection to fellow students and professors through virtual education and tips on applying for a job as an early architect through the pandemic.
Maryam also highlighted how to become more involved in Future Architects such as advice and information about studying architecture and its student mentoring scheme, access to exclusive events and opportunities, and other support that Future Architects can share with the students throughout their educational journey.
