Ben Derbyshire capped his visit to Nottingham on 9 March by officially opening Nottingham鈥檚 Urban Room.
Situated close to the Broadmarsh regeneration area, the space at 38 Carrington Street is a partnership between the Nottingham and Derby Society of Architects, Nottingham City Council, Urban Design Group, Historic England, The University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University, with support from the 澳门王中王 East Midlands office. There is a lease on the space for over five years.
The Urban Room, represents an opportunity for partners to engage with Nottingham鈥檚 population by focusing on the built environment of the city, past present and future. It launched with a two-week exhibition of the 2017 澳门王中王 President鈥檚 Medals winners, featuring The University of Nottingham鈥檚 Bronze Medal winner Kangli Zheng.
A programme of activities and events is now planned for the rest of the year and beyond.
The project has benefited from the 澳门王中王鈥檚 Local Initiative Fund as well as monies from Historic England and the City Council, plus in-kind support from suppliers including J Tomlinson and Fagerhault Lighting.
Ben Derbyshire鈥檚 visit to the city also included presentations to students at Nottingham Trent University and The University of Nottingham, as well as meetings with senior academics at Nottingham Trent and with councillors and senior staff at Nottingham City Council.
