From the restoration of a Cathedral's claustral buildings to a new center for the YMCA, twelve unique projects are now in the running to win °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Regional Awards in the North East.
°ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ North East Chair, Tim Bailey, praised the selection as ‘excellent’ and noted the vast breadth of the projects from new builds to conservation works and refurbishments. There’s even another restored pier on the list (only this time it’s in Sunderland).
He said projects at large and small scales and in urban, suburban and rural settings ‘illustrates the value and impact that great design can bring to any setting and all communities.’
Each of the buildings will now be assessed by a regional jury and the winning buildings will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday 24 May at The Museum Gardens, York hosted by Harry Gration from BBC One Yorkshire.

All of these buildings are potential °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Regional Award winners. If they are successful, they will be considered for a highly-coveted °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ National Award in recognition of their architectural excellence, the results of which will be announced in June.
The shortlist for the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ Stirling Prize, for the new best building of the year, will be drawn from the °ÄÃÅÍõÖÐÍõ National Award-winning buildings in July and the Stirling Prize winner will be announced in October.
