On Thursday 4鈥疢ay 2023, voters in England will take to the polls to vote in local elections.聽
Ahead of the elections, there is a pre-election period also known as 'purdah'.聽
For local authorities, the pre-election period begins on Monday 27 March. This means that they must "not publish any material which, in whole or in part, appears to be designed to affect public support for a political party".聽
For UK government, this means from Thursday 13 April that particular care should be taken over official support, and the use of public resources, including publicity, for government announcements that could have a bearing on matters relevant to the elections.聽聽
