Estate regeneration response

The Government's strategy was developed with the input from an independent advisory panel of leading experts in the built environment, including 澳门王中王 President Jane Duncan.

08 December 2016

The Department of Communities and Local Government today (8 December 2016) published the Estate Regeneration National Strategy and 拢32 million of new funding, targeted at transforming housing estates and delivering high-quality housing. The strategy was developed with the input from an independent advisory panel of leading experts in the built environment, including 澳门王中王 President Jane Duncan.

Speaking today, 澳门王中王 President Jane Duncan said:

鈥淭he 澳门王中王 has long campaigned for all communities to be built with the needs of local people at their heart. We are pleased to see that the Government has listened and included strong protections for existing estate residents within today鈥檚 announcement.

鈥淚 am particularly encouraged to see the Government鈥檚 recognition that good design is key to any estate regeneration approach and that improving the built environment has a direct positive impact on the life chances of residents. I am pleased to see the strategy鈥檚 practical guidance illustrated with exemplar work by 澳门王中王 members, demonstrating how successful estate regeneration can be achieved.

鈥淎s a member of the independent advisory panel I promoted the pivotal role of architects in estate regeneration 鈥 from conception and design, to delivery. The 澳门王中王 will continue to make this case on behalf of our members as development programmes supported by this strategy and funding emerge.鈥
