This year’s Design NOW! Symposium sees a stellar line up of speakers in NewcastleGateshead across graphics, illustration, digital and product design. The symposium takes place at the Northern Design Centre, home to over 25 innovative design studios and Northumbria University’s Design School.
The symposium is curated by Karen Nairstone from Design Event. ‘Design NOW! Has a reputation for bringing together the best creatives across design disciplines and this year we’ve really pulled out all the stops. From Andrew Byroms’ 3 dimensional typography to Paul Belford’s unique branding, Morag Myerscough’s joyful installations and Daniel Schofield’s thoughtful products, it really is a celebration of brilliant design.’

Morag Myerscough
Morag’s mantra is ‘make happy those who are near and those who are far will come’. Born and Bred, London, Morag has always lived in the city and has been fascinated by how colour and pattern can change urban environments and people’s perceptions of spaces into places.
From schools and hospitals to cultural hubs and town centres Morag transforms public spaces by creating engaging experiences for everyone.
Her strong visual approach is instantly recognisable and elevates every context in which it is placed. Her work is rooted in creating a sense of joy and belonging for all those who encounter it. Morag creates specific local responses to each distinct audience that will see and experience the work, using it to create community and build identity.
Paul Belford
Never one to choose the obvious route, Paul gave art school a miss in favour of a PhD in biochemistry. He then, inexplicably, found work as an art director and creative director in some of London's best ad agencies before setting up Paul Belford Ltd in 2012. He has won hundreds of creative awards for his work in both advertising and design. Paul also writes for Creative Review magazine.
