Architecture walking tours​ of Liverpool

Whether you're a city resident or a first-time visitor, discover Liverpool’s rich architectural history on our walking tours.

From Georgian terraces and the world-famous Grade I-listed Royal Albert Docks to grandiose commercial and civic monuments, explore the stories of Liverpool’s iconic architecture and buildings that chart over 300 years of history.

Tour 1: Waterfront Walk

Join our guides for an insightful walk along Liverpool’s famous waterfront from the Pier Head to the Royal Albert Dock. As well as gaining insider local knowledge, you’ll uncover the history of architecturally interesting buildings, both historic and modern, and the public spaces and statues that make this area along the River Mersey unique.

When: 11am, Wednesday and Sunday

Meeting point: the atrium outside North ( North Architecture Centre, Mann Island, L3 1BP)

Tour ends: Behind the Maritime Museum

Tour time: 90 minutes (approx.)

Tour 2: Cathedral to Cathedral

Marvel at Liverpool’s two stunning and contrasting cathedrals by taking a stroll through history along Hope Street. Located in the heart of the city’s Georgian quarter, it’s one of Liverpool’s most famous and vibrant thoroughfares, and home to the Philharmonic Hall and ’s Stirling Prize winner, the Everyman Theatre.

When: 11am, Saturday

Meeting point: the bottom of the steps in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral, Mount Pleasant, L3 5TQ

Tour ends: Liverpool Cathedral, St James’ Mount, L1 7AZ

Tour time: 90 minutes (approx.)
