Priory Park Pavilion

The project, to design a new pavilion, formed part of a wider initiative to restore the historic landscape of Priory Park.

Invited Culture and Leisure

Dominique Perrault Architecture were selected as winners of the competition.

The new pavilion, whilst providing modern facilities and a café, had to be capable of sympathetic integration within the Grade II listed 18th Century park. It also needed to respect the fine Grade I Priory Building, a scheduled ancient monument, and for which the park formed the original parkland.

Dominique Perrault’s circular café pavilion with glass doors, floor to ceiling windows and mirror-polished stainless steel uprights, provided the ideal solution. Inside, the pavilion is a café, public toilets, an office, and an interpretation centre aimed at telling the story of the renovated Priory Park.
