H²¹²õ³Ù¾±²Ô²µ²õ Pier

Selection of an Architect to re-imagine Hastings Pier with the ultimate goal of reopening and revitalising the pier as a community based asset as well as assisting in their fundraising campaign and in stakeholder and public consultation.

Invited Culture and Leisure

The competition was launched in 2010 to regenerate the existing pier which had been recently partly destroyed by fire.

The regeneration of the new Pier was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the local community through a fundraising campaign.

The winning scheme by drmm took the bold decision to not place a building at the end of the pier and instead provided space for activities to take place. Working with the community to create a place that would support many different scenarios. A small pavilion provides a cafe and community space
